Stella Adler Technique
Is an important acting technique to add to your arsenal of acting tools you can use when approaching a role or scene. Whether it’s film or television.
You will learn the Stella Adler technique and explore the language and principles of Stella Adler’s approach to acting, including action, circumstance, and justification. You will develop a foundation from which to build yourself as an actor.
Stella Adler believed that an actor’s talent lies within his imagination.
She trained with Stanislavsky and studied the method but didn’t believe that an actor needs to relive past experiences to connect with the character.
Uta Hagen Technique
Learn the Uta Hagen acting technique. Uta Hagen’s technique emphasizes realism above all else. Substitution or Transference allows the actor to change out their own experiences and emotional recollections for the given circumstances of the scene. As a teacher, Uta Hagen helped establish the career of many famous actors who are still working today. The Michelle Danner Acting Studio is excited to offer you an opportunity to learn this ground-breaking technique and to offer you an opportunity to apply it to scene work.
Uta Hagen pushed her students to “become” the character—as opposed to pretending to be the part. While she encouraged deep study of the text, she also suggested creating a hybrid of the facts of the play and the facts of the actor’s life to motivate truthful behavior. In her early career she advocated the use of “substitution”: a technique in which one replaces fictional events from the script with personal events from one’s life to create an authentic reaction. Hagen later finessed the approach and renamed it “transference.”
Lee Strasberg Technique
Learn how an Actor Prepares, Building a Character, & Creating a Role
The Method Technique as developed by Lee Strasberg will teach you how to create a moving performance, infused with a vibrant inner life.Itis a technique, or type of acting, in which an actor aspires to encourage sincere and emotionally expressive performances by fully inhabiting the role of the character. It’s an emotion-oriented technique instead of classical acting that is primarily action-based.
Sanford Meisner Technique
Is a excellent technique to add to your arsenal of tools to help you build your very own golden box.
You will learn the foundation of Sanford Meisner: exercises in repetition independent activities, emotional preparation & scene work. The focus of the Meisner approach is for the actor to “get out of their head”, such that the actor is behaving instinctively to the surrounding environment.
